The John Leigh Calder Trio

"The John Leigh Calder Jazz/Blues Trio"

This trio captures all the ingredients that inspires an eagerly awaiting audience, with mixed music feels, that blend into a swinging funky Soulful Jazz Blues moods of contrasting dynamics, maintaining its energy level to the last note. Johns new group is made up of some of the most highly regarded musicians in Australia.

John Leigh Calder
Fronting the group on Vocals and Upright Bass, has toured extensively thoughout the UK , Australia and NZ and has featured many well known musicians in his bands over the years. Col Nolan, Errol Buddle, John Morrison, Col Loughlan, Steve Brian, Kevin Hunt and Alan Turnbull to name a few, and more recently in London John Critchinson Ronnie Scotts Pianist and Colin Wood from Acker Bilks Band. He has performed at most major venues in and around UK and Australia.

Ray Alldridge
Ray Alldridge is a pianist and keyboard player who is recognized as one of Australias best piano player's and music arrangers. Ray brings vast experience with him to the Trio. He was Musical Director for Channel 9's famous Midday Show and has backed some of the worlds top performers. Ray was the pianist for Galapagous Duck, and more recently Musical Director for Rhonda Birchmore and Grace Knight.

Lawrie Thompson
Lawrie Thompson, on Drums, was born in Melbourne. Lawrie started his professional music career with Graham Bell and His All Stars and has also worked locally with Ricky May, Don Burrows Quartet ,Galapagous Duck. He has worked extensively in the UK and has toured the USA with The Bob Bernard Band. He also toured with the Billy Eckstine and Bill Burtons Orchestra and worked for 11 years with Channel 9 daytime television.
